Additionally team topics are available for each unit of competency. Participants are able to practice working with a group and discussing issues with other participants. This gives a chance for participants to learn communication skills such as consulting, sharing ideas and considering other points of view, which are paramount to a security risk manager’s role.
Apart from working towards a nationally recognised qualification, participants will be increasing their skills and knowledge in the security industry as a whole.
As the principles across the industry are similar, participants will be able to take what they have learnt from one industry area and apply this to other areas.
Delivery
This course is conducted using a combination of face to face and flexible learning strategies. This program is delivered over fourteen (14) weeks, encompassing training, research and assessment. There are only two, three (3) day workshops within the program, with the remaining time available for you to study from the convenience of home or work.
Assessment Strategy
To achieve this qualification the candidate must have demonstrated competency against all 12 core units plus 2 elective units. Up to two of the required 3 electives may be selected from other relevant endorsed Training Package qualifications aligned at the Certificate III level.
Each unit has a series of tasks for participants to complete. These tasks are based on participants solving possible real life problems that occur as part of working in the security industry. Participants leave this course with a professional portfolio of assessed works to act as a professional resource guide.
Flexible Learning and Assessment
The strategy incorporates blended learning. This is a combination of multiple approaches to learning using virtual and physical resources such as the technology based online toolbox, face to face sessions and practical delivery. This enables participants to follow a learning path of their choice whether they choose to read material and then complete the activity sheets or vice versa.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
In competency-based training, you are not expected to repeat training for competencies, which you already possess. In accordance with national VET policy, RPL will be available to you when you enroll in a Beltin Group qualification. Please note that RPL will not be granted for partial units of competency. RPL will be granted only where sufficient evidence is provided of competence for an entire Unit of Competency. Should you wish to apply for RPL please complete our Application Form for RPL (Participant Handbook; p19) and arrange an RPL interview with your Course Coordinator.
